Dragonite's Rate My Team! [Volume 1]


Hello! I thought that before I start my regular column I would throw in some RMTs (rate my teams) in with the single pokemon movesets to mix things up a bit. The standard procedure for listing pokemon in a team is:

The strategy for this team is to wear down the opponent's team, so in the end, Swellow has a chance to sweep the rest of the team.






Roserade @ Focus Sash
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SpAtk
Timid nature (+Spd,-Atk)
- Hidden Power
- Leaf Storm
- Sleep Powder
- Toxic Spikes

Roserade seemed like a good lead. It can set up toxic spikes to chip off hp, and put a pokemon to sleep to allow it's teammates to more easily set up.






Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpDef
Bold nature (+Def,-Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam
- Slack Off
- Surf

I <3 Slowbro. It has single-handedly swept entire teams for me. I thought that a set up tank like Slowbro could effectively wear down the opponent's team by chipping away good chunks of health on counters, and possibly forcing the opponent to sacrifice a pokemon. Slowbro also works effectively against steels and rocks, who Swellow doesn't like.




Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def,-SpAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
Entry hazards do an amazing job of weakening teams. With extra damage from spikes, Swellow should be able to get KOs it normally couldn't.






Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/28 Atk/228 SpDef
Careful nature (+SpDef,-SpAtk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp

With so spikes and toxic spikes, I needed a spin blocker, and Dusknoir is one of the most notorious. He can burn incoming physical sweepers and halve their attack, while absorbing a good amount of special hits while counter attacking with an often underestimated attack stat.






Gliscor @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SpDef
Jolly nature (+Spd,-SpAtk)
- Baton Pass
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Swords Dance

Gliscor works well into this team. He is immune to electric, which causes problems with Skarmory and Slowbro, and can baton pass Swords Dances to Swellow, to make it's attack even more insane.






Swellow @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd,-SpAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Pursuit
- Facade
- Protect

Swellow is the star of the team. Base 85 attack may not seem like much, but thanks to guts and a flame orb, this doubles. Also, facade becomes a 140 power move with same type attack bonus (STAB). It is truly a force to be reckoned with.
