Pokemon was expanding rapidly and people knew that the original 151 Pokemon were only the beginning of the Pokemon world. And in the second movie more new Pokemon were introduced to the world. The second generation of Pokemon had begun in a new region...... Johto.
Two new games Gold and Silver were released on November 21st of 1999 in Japan and on October 11th 2000 in North America. The games were set in a new region that the trainer had been invited to. The new region Johto had 100 new Pokemon to be caught. The new game had many new features for the gamer to enjoy. It had many very important new features that have totally changed the play of the game. It was the first time Pokemon had genders creating a way to breed pokemon. Shiny pokemon were also created like the red gyrardos in the lake of rage. The time system was introduced so that there could be time specific events and day of the week events as well. Happiness of Pokemon was added and you could face the gym leaders from the Kanto region when you were done with Johto.
After the release of the games anime also moved on to Johto. Ash and his homies made the trip on October 14th 1999 and a year later in North America. Movie 3 took place in Johto as well featuring the legendary fire beast Entei.
