Xatu's A History of Pokemon [VOLUME 3]
The first Pokemon spin-off game created was Pokemon Pinball. This game was released in the U.S. on June 28, 1999. It was released for the Game Boy Color and was the first of a series of spin-off games. Then, four years later, Pokemon Pinball Ruby and Sapphire was released for the Game Boy Advance. These games were well received by reviewers and sold well.
Another Pokemon spin-off game released was Pokemon Puzzle Challenge. This game was released on December 4, 2000 for the Game Boy Color. This game is played much like Tetris, and received good ratings. The game was a counterpart of Pokemon Puzzle League released about a month earlier for the Nintendo 64. Puzzle League was played in much the same way, and it was the only game to be based on the Anime series. Both Puzzle League and Challenge got good ratings.
On February 29, 2000, Pokemon Stadium was released also for the N64. This game is played quite like the battles that take place in the Pokemon Main Series games. Then, on March 28, 2001, Pokemon Stadium 2 was released. In both of these games, Pokemon could be imported from Game Boy and Game Boy Color Pokemon Games. This happens when players put their game cartridges into a converter in the back of the N64 game controller. Neither of these games were received very well.
On November 6, 2000, Hey You, Pikachu was released for the N64. This game was played by talking into a microphone to control Pikachu. This is one of only two games to use the N64's Voice Recognation Unit.
On March 13, 2005, Pokemon Dash was released as the first Pokemon game ever for the Nintendo DS. This game is played much like a traditional racing game and received mediocre reviews.
One year later, Pokemon Trozei was released. This game was played as a puzzle and received fairy good reviews.
On September 18, 2006, Pokemon Mystery Dungeons Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team were released for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS respectively. These games are played by traveling through dungeons to go on rescue missions to save Pokemon. On April 20, 2008, Mystery Dungeons Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness were released for the DS as sequels to the other two games. Later, on October 16, 2009, Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky was released as a remake of Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness with an expanded plot.
Next issue, I will finish writing about the spin-off games. Signing out, Xatu.
On June 30, 1999, Pokemon Snap was released for the N64. This game required players to capture pictures of Pokemon doing different activities. This game did not receive as good reviews as other spin-off games.
Xatu's A History of Pokemon [VOLUME 2]
In 1996, Game Freak released two games in Japan, Pocket Monsters Akai and Pocket Monsters Midori. These two games were big hits in Japan. The games did so well that Nintendo a partner of Game Freak, decided to release the games in America. However, the name Pocket Monsters had already been trademarked in the U.S, so they decided to combine the two words to make Pokemon. They released Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Red in America on September 30th, 1998. These games contained a record of 151 Pokemon, the most in any game. These Pokemon make up Pokemon Generation I. The starter Pokemon are Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
The game then started a series which now includes 20 main series games and 27 spin off games including the TCG. The next games in the main series were Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. These games introduced 100 new Pokemon which make up Pokemon Generation II. These games were released about two years later on October 15, 2000. The starter Pokemon for these games were Cyndoquil, Totodile, and Chikorita. A year later, Pokemon Crystal was released with additions to Gold and Silver.
On March 17, 2003, Pokemons Ruby and Sapphire were released. An additional 135 Pokemon were added to these games making up Pokemon Generation III. The starter Pokemon for these games were Torchic, Mudkip, and Treecko. Two years later, Pokemon Emerald was released with additions to the other two.
Between Ruby and Sapphire and Emerald, Pokemons Fire Red and Leaf Green were released. These games were remakes of the original Red and Blue, though for some reason it is considered a Generation III game. This is possibly because it is possible to obtain Generation II and III Pokemon.
On April 20, 2007, Nintendo released its first two games for the Nintendo DS. These games were Pokemons Diamond and Pearl. These games introduced 107 new Pokemon making up Pokemon Generation IV. Then, two years later, on March 22, 2009, Pokemon Platinum was released. This games improved on Diamond and Pearl just as Crystal and Emerald did. The starter Pokemon to choose from were Chimchar, Piplup and Turtwig.
A year later, March 14, 2010, Nintendo released Pokemons Heart Gold and Soul Silver. These games were remakes of the Generation II games with the addition of the Poke Walker and many other functions only available on the DS.
Then, on September 18, 2010, Pokemon Black and White were released in Japan. These games are said to be released in the U.S. in March 2011. These games introduced 150 new Pokemon which make up Pokemon Generation V. Elio.com will keep you posted when these games come out.
Next week, I will be tackling the less popular spin off games. Signing out, Xatu.

Are You Game? [Volume 8]
Volume 8: Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
Miles Edgeworth, doesn't that name just scream awesomeness. Well Shinx here and today we will be reviewing Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. This game is pretty damn awesome. Any person who plays Ace Attorney should definitely pick this game up.
You play as Miles Edgeworth as he tries to solve five investigations. The first one has you trying to find out who was responsible for the murder in your office. The second one has you on an airplane trying to investigate a murder. The third one has you trying to solve a kidnapping and a murder. As for the fourth and fifth ones, you go back in time and you witness arson. This is definitely a PW game.
The game itself includes walking around, searching for clues, and interrogating potential suspects. The main part of the game involves you debating with another person over what is and what isn't, during which, you can press them for more answers and show them evidence which can break their logic. You have a health bar that goes down if you show a person wrong evidence or say something wrong. And when your life bar is empty the case ends and the truth is lost for eternity. You also gather logic throughout the game. Whenever you find something startling or out of place it goes into the logic section. There you connect two points of logic so it all makes sense. But if those points are wrong you lose health. You also have to gather evidence to break other peoples line of logic.
Some of the debates you have with other people are pretty easy, but some are quite challenging. And color me retarded but i once was stuck on one debate until my whole health bar was depleted. I also like how bluntly the game ends once you lose your life bar. "And thus the truth was lost for eternity". That seems rather harsh, doesn't it? And this game, let alone the whole series, seems more fit to be an anime than an actual game.
And with that all said it's time for a rating. It's a solid 8 out of 10. It's an all around good game but it's to short, and nothing seems to pop. And the games cut scenes are pretty long. Not Metal Gear Solid long, but pretty long. Not much to complain about, but it could've been better. And with that I shall end with a picture.

Dragonite & Jirachi - Best Friends Forever
I thought I would mix things up a bit and post two pokemon moveset compilations at ounce, for the best team in pokemon history, Dragonite and Jirachi. They both cover eachother's weaknesses perfectly, and do an amazing job of taking hits in general. Quick sweepers like Jolteon can be a problem, so it is nice to have a special wall handy. Another thing that is so great about this duo, is that both Jirachi and Dragonite are incredibly adaptable. Your opponent will have no idea what to expect.

Paraflinch
Jirachi@leftovers
252 Atk/252 Hp/252 Def
Adamant Nature
-Thunder Wave
-Iron Head
-Fire Punch/Zen Headbutt
-Wish/Substitute
With paralysis and the 60% chance of flinch from Iron Head, the opponent has a whopping 30% chance to attack. Use this to annoy the opponent to death. I'm not fond of this set, but it does work.
Calm Mind
Jirachi@leftovers/life orb
252 SpA/168 Spe/88 Hp
Modest Nature
-Calm Mind
-Psychic
-Thunderbolt
-Wish/Hidden Power Ice
The EVs give you your best bet at outspeeding and 2HKOing standard stealth rock lead Heatran with Thunderbolt. With a life orb, you can be sure to beat Heatran. Watch out for scarfed or extra specially defensive variants.
Offensive Wish Support
Jirachi@Leftovers
252 Hp/164 SpD/92 Def
Calm Nature
-Wish
-Psychic
-Thunderbolt
-Protect
I love this set. It works very well on a team that requires a pokemon to set up wish, but not a pokemon to be a wall. Set up wishes for yourself and teammates, and if they switch into a counter that can't do more than 50% damage to you, just Wish-Protect until they either run of PP for the move that is super effective on you, or you get to an Hp level where you can safely attack.
Duel Screens
Jirachi@Leftovers
252 Hp/252 Spe/4 Def
Jolly Nature
-Light Screen
-Reflect
-Wish
-U-turn
Very simple. Set up screens. Prepare wish. Switch out. Benefits all types of teams.

Are You Game? [Volume 7]
On the 3rd day of Over 9,000 Week a Wee Shinx Gave to Me...
SCREW THIS LOGO
So everyone it's Shinx, and today we'll be tackling one of my most hated games. Wii Sports. This game was packaged with the Wii when it first came out and still even today. But unlike Mario this is just an average game with not a lot special about it.
Wii Sports is a composition of five sports minigames. Some are good and some are bad. My favorite one is tennis. It's easy, fun, and sometimes very competitive if playing with a friend. But you can't control the player as it automatically moves to where the ball lands.
The bowling game is okay too. It's very simple and very easy and just about anyone can pick it up. But it can boring cause all you do is just fling your arm at the screen, well all of the games here require you to do that.
All you do in the baseball minigame is just throw and swing. Hit detection is fairly well and way easy to get a home run. One complaint is that you can't control your outfield and the other team is batting.
Golf kind of sucks. And by "kind of" I mean a lot. You swing to light, it barely makes it, swing to hard and you overshoot it. There's a swing meter with a shaded area that shows how hard you're supposed to swing. But most of the time you overshoot it. This minigame is not a lot of fun. And as for the boxing one, get a copy of Punch Out or Fight Night and play those as opposed to boxing in this game.
So that's all the games for Wii Sports. My personal rating will be a 6 out of 10. 3 out of the 5 games are good, but not great. The game is just a showcase for the Wii's motion control, which in itself is not much.

DAY 1- OVER 9,000 WEEK
On the first day we analyze the root of over 9,000! Take a look:
Xatu's A History of Pokemon [VOLUME 1]
On August 28, 1965, a man named Satoshi Tajiri was born in Japan. In his early years, Satoshi was very interested in insects. He loved catching them and also figuring out new ways to catch them. However, as with most places with trees, the parks he hunted in were demolished for construction. Because Satoshi could no longer collect insects, Satoshi decided to create adventures in his own mind. Around the same time, he also gained an interest in video games. He, along with a couple of his friends, started a magazine dedicated to video games titled Game Freak. The magazine turned into a video game developer that made all of the Pokemon games that you know of today. Next week, I will tell you about some of those games and the Pokemon introduced in them.

Are You Game? [Volume 6 with special guest Mudkip]
Shinx's Are You Game: (To see Mudkip's Scroll down to after the rating)
Volume 6: Super Mario Sunshine
Hello everybody, it's me Shinx, and this time it's Super Mario Sunshine. Released in 2002, it is the successor to Super Mario 64. This game's fun, but to me is very frustrating. It's like whenever I die I see a Japanese businessman laughing at me. And I feel like wanting to go to a prison, sneaking in, unleashing the prisoners and letting them run free.
So you play as Mario (no durr) and you go with peach to Delfino Island for vacation. But little as we know there's evil a foot. An evil version of Mario is trying to get giant blobs of paint all over Delfino with his giant paintbrush. Since the Delfino officials don't know the difference, they lock up the real Mario in prison. He is forbidden to leave the island without cleaning up all the paint, so he uses a water-jetpack-pump thing called FLUDD. So it's up yo you to clear your name, find the doppelganger, and eventually save the of coarse kidnapped Peach.
This game is a standard 3D platformer, but you get FLUDD. You could use FLUDD as a jet pack, rocket, or a spray. And you use it to clear out paint spread all out through Delfino. You collect shine sprites at the end of each level. You have to because it will restore the shine all throughout Delfino. It's not like the officials, no they just stand there while you have to clean the island all by yourself. The toads don't do jack either.
There's also voice acting in the game. It sucks. Nothing sounds right, everything sounds like a Betty Crokcer commercial. And the graphics aren't so hot either. But the graphics aren't the game right. It's the gameplay.
This game isn't all bad. It's really good in its ways. Each world is different and vibrant. No one world is the same is the other. FLUDD is the best part though. Without it you couldn't finish a level. Jumping is the most important part since it's a platformer, and it works really well.
So it's rating time. This game gets a solid 8 out of 10. There some frustrating parts all throught out the game, but if you can ignore them this game is a decent buy. Scroll down to see Mudkip's Review of Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs.
SPECIAL EDITION ARE YOU GAME WITH MUDKIP OMG!!!
Hello guys, gals, and wonderful pals! It's me, Mudkip and as AYG is one of my favorite columns, I thought I would come in and contribute to it this week, especially because of the release of
Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs. So thats what Im doing here, along with Shinx for a double issue!
Lets get started!
Getting Started
Thank Game Freak for this game's ability to skip most of the tutorials, as I have gone through 2 of these games already, so I am pretty sure I know how to draw a circle on the screen with a plastic pen, stylus, whatever. The cutscenes are neat, but there are SO MANY OF THEM. You really get started without delay, though. As soon as you press New Game, you get the infamous questions: Are you a boy? Or are you a girl? Being a boy, I picked boy. They introduce you to the villains in the first 10 seconds of the game as well. Pokemon Pinchers, Oh God.
Villains
The pokemon pinchers are the... smartest group of people I have ever met... as if. I am a fan of Blue Eyes and Red Eyes, the leaders of the Pokemon Pinchers. They, guess what?, have EMOTIONS. Take that, Cyrus! But, umm... teh minons are stupid as bull doohicky. Sigh...
Ukelele Pichu!
Three Words. Best Partner Ever.
The Islands of Oblivia
The Islands are pretty awesome. Each island has do, re, mi, fa, so, la or ti at the beginning. There is too much walking around to past places hough. Going back and forth can get pretty tedious, even when you have the ability to fly on a Staraptor (which you get way too late in the game in my opinion). The landscape and scenery are beautiful.
Storyline
The storyline is actually passable. I dont mind the whole gimmick of the guardian signs. I like drawing the signs and I like the puzzles associated with the storyline, but the beginning is way too slow paced, and it feels boring at times.
Conclusion
As I have been a fan of the Ranger series since the beginning, circling the heck out of my stylus, I think that they could have done better with this game. Its not a must have, but I believe any Pokemon Ranger Fan should definitely get this game.
My Rating:
Presentation: 9.0 // Guardian Signs, Epicness, and Great Storyline.
Graphics: 7.5 // Pixels and Pixels but beautiful scenery.
Music: 8.5 // Its a Ukelele-playing Pichu. It doesn't get better.
Gameplay: 8.5 // Sometimes riding Raikou is glitchy, but other than that...
Lasting Appeal: 8.0 // Multiplayer, Quests, and Ranger Net.
Final Score: 8.3 - Good
